Notice the detail of his dress, shield, helmet and club. Warriors are a common subject matter for the Moche suggesting the importance of warfare, conquest and order. Moche lords were very wealthy and powerful individuals and supported a group of skilled craftsmen to create objects, such as this warrior, which display the lord's wealth and especially his power. |
